Curriculum Resources to support Educators and Students
Julie Schaul, Citizen U

Primary sources are not just for social studies, they’re great for ELA, STEM, fine and performing arts, and foreign languages too! Primary sources engage students with content in a personal way and provide them with opportunities to gain multiple perspectives and to make connections between past, present, and future. When students analyze primary sources, they hone critical thinking skills while also enhancing news/media literacy skills and social awareness.

In this interactive professional development session, you’ll discover free resources from the Library of Congress, along with a plethora of teaching strategies and materials, that you can use to support and supplement your curriculum. You’ll also learn about PD opportunities to help integrate inquiry learning with primary sources into instruction across grades and disciplines using a variety of frameworks and strategies.
