2020 Leadership Institute Nomination Process

The NSEA is providing an opportunity for you to self-nominate or to nominate someone for participation in the Leadership Institute this summer, July 13-16, 2020, beginning at 2:00 PM and concluding after lunch on Thursday July 16  in Lincoln.

At Leadership Institute you will learn essential skills for Association leaders. The Institute will help you develop your talents as you:

  • Learn about your leadership style
  • Learn to access the resources, services and programs offered by the NSEA
  • Grow as an Association member
  • Utilize the NSEA Organization Specialist that is available to work with your local
  • Utilize communication strategies with your members
  • Engage with all levels of Association governance
  • Learn how best to recruit new members
  • Run for offices at the local, state and national levels
  • Launch and implement organizing projects that engage members
  • Learn to use Parliamentary Procedure
  • Recruit and get education friendly officials elected to your school board, State Legislature and National offices

Participants must be nominated to participate in Leadership Institute.  There will be a cap of 30 participants.  Most of the expenses will be covered, including gas money, food and hotel for a shared room.  Expenses not covered may be covered by NSEA locals or districts.  The expectation is that the participant take part in the entire Leadership Institute including group meals in the evening.

Being nominated does not guarantee being selected.  When selecting participants, the committee tries to put together an LI class that is diverse in age, location, size of local, ethnicity and years of experience teaching.  You may nominate yourself, or others.  Please ensure that anyone you are nominating is aware of the information above.
